First team too good for Bont

Another midweek win under the Llanandras lights

Presteigne St Andrews FC picked up their second win of the Spar Mid Wales League, second-division season when they beat Bont 4-1 at Llanandras Park on Wednesday, 26 August.

Josh Gardner continued his impressive start to the season when he put Presteigne ahead in the first half with another top quality strike.

I am told his long-range effort found the top corner with the visiting goalkeeper believing it was going wide.

A goal up at the break, Presteigne then doubled their lead through Alan Stocker before Bont pulled a goal back.

But Merv Stephens then claimed the third Presteigne goal, although there was some discussion as to whether this ought to go down as an own goal – Merv gets the benefit of the doubt unless I am advised otherwise.

Josh Gardner then neatly ‘book-ended’ the evening by scoring Presteigne’s fourth goal as they put the game to bed and wrapped up a welcome victory.

I will add in any comments from the management as and when these come to hand but, in the meantime, well done to all concerned and here’s hoping we can push on from here when we head to Kerry on Saturday, 5 September.
