The first team last night came away from Ludlow with a 1-0 victory in a friendly match at the Coors Stadium.

Manager Tim Broome said the game served a good purpose as it allowed Gareth Watkins to have a run out after his longterm injury while Sam Williams also had a chance to get some game time in following the foot injury he sustained against Waterloo Rovers.

Tim said it also gave him the chance to run the rule over a number of other players including a trialist.

“Youth-team players Corin Jones and Danny Ives impressed us while we also fielded a 23-year-old trialist – Jack Keating – who is a former Blackburn and Swansea youngster,” he said.

“Many thanks to Mark Evans at Ludlow for arranging the game and their hospitality afterwards,” he added.

The first team will next be in action on Saturday 30 January when they will head to Aberystwyth University for a game between two of the league’s form teams – the Uni have won eight successive matches, including six league games.
