Under 18s match postponed

Presteigne St Andrews FC
Tonight's scheduled match has been called off

Presteigne St Andrews FC’s scheduled Under 18s match against Leominster Minors that was due to be played this evening (Thursday, 1 December) has been postponed.

Club chairman Alan Randell confirmed the game had been called off due to a waterlogged pitch, while the conditions meant groundsman Tracy Hammond is unable to do the necessary repair work after the first team game last night.

Alan said the conditions meant this was the only sensible decision for him to take as there is no point in taking risks with the pitch at this stage of the season.

“There was a scheduled heavy usage of the pitch this week with the first-team game on Wednesday, the Under 18s on Thursday and then the Reserves in the Emrys Morgan Cup on Saturday,” he said.

“We always knew that if we had any quantity of rain then tonight’s match would be in doubt, but at least there are only seven teams in the HFA Floodlit Youth League, so it should not be too difficult to reschedule the game.

“There is still a large number of games to be played on Llanandras Park between now and the end of the season, including Otway and Sparey Cup games, so we have to be careful not to cause any unnecessary damage.”
