Early start for Emrys Morgan Cup tie

Presteigne St Andrews FC
Supporters will be able to take in J Emrys Morgan Cup action this weekend

Presteigne Reserves will take centre stage this weekend when they will entertain Maesglas in the second round of the J Emrys Morgan Cup at Llanandras Park.

From the outset, can all supporters, officials and especially players please note this match is due to kick off at 1.45pm.

Quite why this is the case, heaven only knows – well ‘heaven’ and those organising the competition, presumably as there is a perfectly good set of floodlights down there, but anyway, 1.45pm it is – we would hate you to turn up at the normal time to find the players trooping off for half-time.

Presteigne Reserves reached this stage courtesy of a comprehensive 6-1 thrashing of visiting Kerry Reserves in the last round so will be looking for more of the same kind of form in this one.

But it is worth pointing out that Maesglas were in pretty good form in their first-round tie, too – they saw off visiting Newtown Wanderers 6-2 with Aled Rees netting a hat-trick.

In terms of their league form, Maesglas have made a solid start to their season in the Cynghrair Costcutter League first division.

They are in fourth place in the table with a record of six wins, one draw and three defeats from their opening 10 matches.

If you would like to do a bit of extra homework on Maesglas you can do so by clicking here and you will be redirected to their official club website – definitely one of the better ones around!

It is hoped to have the result up online by around 6.30pm – in case you are wondering why it is not any earlier as they are kicking off early, this is because I work until 6.00pm!

The first team have a weekend off as they have no fixture scheduled for Saturday, 3 December.
