Preview of the weekend action

Presteigne St Andrews FC
The Reserves will be on view at Llanandras Park this weekend

This will be Friday, then, all of which means only one thing – tomorrow is football day and both senior teams are due to be in action.

The first team will be on the road again – they head to Kerry for a Spar Mid Wales League, second division game knowing they will need to – how can I put it… shape up a bit after last week’s efforts at Abermule.

In that game, Presteigne played very well for the first half-hour or so, but once they fell behind they never really looked like getting back into the game and ended up well beaten by an average Abermule side.

Kerry is likely be a tougher test as they are ninth in the table and have won five and drawn three of their 11 home games so far this season.

The kick off in that particular corner of Montgomeryshire will be at 2.30pm.

As for the Reserves, well, they are on a decent run of form and the moment and they will be looking to build on this when they take on Bronllys at Llanandras Park.

Stuart Skidmore’s side’s recent upturn in fortunes has seen them climb to 12th place in the table while Bronllys are seventh.

But it is worth pointing out the Breconshire side might only be five places above the Reserves in the Mid Wales League (South) table, but they are 13 points better off and they have a game in hand.

While their home form has generally been very solid, Bronllys are certainly beatable on their travels as they have won only two of eight away games so far and have lost five of those road games.

Again, the kick off at Llanandras Park will be at 2.30pm and admission prices for the Reserves’ game will be £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.
