Tom Ammonds prepares to launch the ball forward at Kerry

There are now  match reports up online for the last two first-team matches – the 3-0 defeat at Abermule, and the 3-1 victory at Kerry.

If ever two games encapsulated the frustrations of this season, then these were probably the games – at Abermule Trevor Gummer’s side played well for half an hour and should really have been in front, but they were dreadful for long periods of the second half and ended up going down with a whimper, rather than a bang.

But at Kerry they got off to a flying start and then were able to build on it as the chances went in and so the confidence started to flow.

My thanks to Trevor Gummer for sending over the necessary details for the report on the Kerry game, while I wrote the Abermule one myself.

But then I did drive all the way to Abermule to watch what was, in all honesty, a dreadful game of football between – on the day – two pretty poor sides, so I waited most of a week before writing it!

Fair play to Trevor and the side for putting that one behind them and turning it around up at Kerry, but they won’t need me to tell them that more of the same will be needed this coming weekend in the basement battle with Bont at Llanandras Park.

A preview of that game is due to appear online at some stage on Friday, 9 March, but it’s to be hoped we get another ‘Kerry’ performance from Trevor’s side, rather than an ‘Abermule’ showing.

The match reports can be found by clicking on the ‘First Team’ tab at the top of the page.
