Early start for the first team on Saturday

It will be an early start for the Bont game, and a possible very early start against Aberaeron

Presteigne St Andrews FC’s chairman Alan Randell informs me Saturday’s home match against Bont in the Spar Mid Wales League, second division will kick off at the earlier time of 1.30pm

This is at the request of the visitors who have an evening appointment in Swansea they are keen to get to, and so we have agreed to their request.

Meanwhile, there is a chance that the home match against Aberaeron that is scheduled for the following Saturday (17, March) could be brought forward to the Friday evening – although this is yet to be confirmed.

This is because, as Aberaeron quite rightly point out, assuming Wales don’t cock things up against Italy this weekend, then there could well be a mildly important game of rugby on Saturday, 17 March in which the Grand Slam could be at stake.

I can hear a number of our diehard supporters already muttering various oaths under their breath about ‘egg chasing’, and suggesting ‘if they keep kicking that ball hard enough then it will go back to the proper shape’.

But, if it were to come down to a Grand Slam Saturday for Wales, then, to be honest, it would probably make more sense for us to play on the Friday night as there is hardly going to be a massive gate if the rugby is on the tellie.

But, as I say, this is yet to be confirmed – as soon as we do know the final details they will be posted online.
