Tuesday-night action for the Reserves at ‘The Bont’

Hay St Marys (in hoops) will be hoping the Reserves can do them a favour this evening

Stuart Skidmore will take his Reserves to Penybont on Tuesday, 24 April when they will look to put a spoke in the wheel of the home side’s late charge for runners-up spot in the Mid Wales League (South).

‘The ‘bont’ have had a terrific season in which they have won the Emrys Morgan Cup while they still designs on winning promotion to the Spar Mid Wales League second division.

They are currently fourth in the Mid Wales League (South) table, eight points behind Hay St Marys who currently occupy second spot, although Penybont have three games in hand.

The runners-up will be put forward as the ‘South’s’ applicants for promotion as champions-elect Newcastle aren’t allowed to be promoted due to the fact they are an English club.

I could go through the whole: ‘But TNS play in England as they are based in Oswestry’-argument again but we have all heard it before so there seems little point, although if I were on the committee at Newcastle (or Bishops Castle last season) I would feel a bit aggrieved.

Either way, the Ressies will head to the Racecourse as rank outsiders against the red-hot favourites in this particular two-horse race, but stranger things have happened.

The kick off at Penybont this evening will be at 6.30pm and it is hoped to have the result up online at some stage later this evening.
